Changing WordPress theme

For the last week I have been working on my new theme for this site. I decide to use Feather WordPress theme from elegant themes. I like this wordpress theme in particular, because the huge possibility that a user have when is using this theme. I like the multi backgrounds option, the fonts from Google Fonts directory and I think this theme is more suitable for my site.

In this post, I just want to give you a sneak peek of my upcoming theme and if you like you can write me some reviews in the comments below. But first of all let’s take a look at what I did with the original theme:

Things I’ve changed:

On home page:

  • on the front page I have increased the width of the content area
  • added one more post from the blog category
  • added more fonts from Google’s directory which are available to select from theĀ  control panel

On the single page:

  • replace the meta information, with a slick stick note (and a paperclip)
  • moved down the title of the post
  • using larger thumbnail image (like I have here on the style)
  • making the content area more visible
    • added a white background with some nice rounded corners
    • increase the space for the post content
    • added a nice shadow effect to the post content
  • integrating the YARP plugin to display related posts
  • added a post tag block
  • added some Google ads links

For the sidebar:

  • every widget has the same white background with rounded corners and some shadow effect
  • make room for the ads widget to be displayed on 2 rows

I will keep working on this theme but for now let’s take a look at some screen shots and please let me know which one do you think is the best. Enjoy
